PokerStars launched in 2001 and became the defining brand of the online poker boom. Through the industry's biggest ups and downs it has remained the largest and most trusted room in the game, and today it sits inside Flutter Entertainment, one of the world's largest listed gambling groups.

That heritage brings two things that matter most in poker: liquidity and trust. PokerStars has the deepest player pool in Western online poker and the longest unbroken record of paying its customers, backed by tier-one licensing. It is the room other rooms are measured against — and, as we cover below, it has always been built more for the serious player than shielded for the casual one.

PokerStars runs its own network — it does not share liquidity with third parties — and that network is the largest in the Western market. Games run at effectively every stake and format around the clock, which is the single biggest practical advantage of playing here: you will always find action.

Beyond that, ongoing rewards on the main site are modest — there is a loyalty scheme, but nothing approaching the rakeback of a GGPoker or CoinPoker.
